Dr Ian Weisberg: Leading the Charge in Electrophysiology with Expertise, Innovation, and Heart

A trailblazer in cardiac care, Dr Ian Weisberg has redefined heart rhythm treatment across Florida’s Gulf Coast. With unmatched expertise in cardiac electrophysiology, a passion for medical innovation, and a deeply compassionate approach, Dr Ian Weisberg has become a central figure in addressing complex arrhythmias such as atrial fibrillation in communities that previously lacked specialized care.

Raised in Dallas, Texas, Dr Ian Weisberg displayed excellence early in life—both in the classroom and on the field. He was honored as “All Southwest” in soccer and played a pivotal role in helping The Greenhill School’s tennis team capture a national championship at Duke University. This strong foundation in discipline and determination laid the groundwork for his future in one of medicine’s most specialized fields.

He attended Emory University, where he earned a B.A. in Economics while completing rigorous premedical coursework. His intellectual curiosity and commitment to global health led him to study abroad at the London School of Economics and the Institute of Italian Studies in Florence. These experiences enriched his understanding of healthcare from a global perspective, further strengthening his patient-first philosophy. He later returned to Emory to earn his Doctor of Medicine degree.

Dr Ian Weisberg began his postgraduate training in Internal Medicine at Parkland Memorial Hospital through UT Southwestern, one of the country’s premier medical centers. He was then selected as Chief Fellow during his Cardiology Fellowship at the University of Florida in Jacksonville. To deepen his specialization, he pursued fellowships in Clinical and Advanced Cardiac Electrophysiology at the University of Chicago, gaining mastery in procedures such as AFib ablation, pacemaker and ICD implantation, CRT therapy, and the Watchman left atrial appendage closure.

In Florida, Dr Ian Weisberg quickly made his mark by launching the first EP program at Gulf Breeze Hospital. His pioneering work earned him the prestigious “We Care” Doctor of the Year award in both 2012 and 2014. Notably, he was among the first physicians in the nation to implant the Biotronik DX ICD, a milestone that reflects his dedication to innovation and excellence in patient outcomes.

Continuing to expand his impact, Dr Ian Weisberg helped establish and enhance electrophysiology services at North Okaloosa Medical Center and HCA Fort Walton-Destin. These efforts brought life-saving procedures closer to home for countless patients in the region.

In 2025, Dr Ian Weisberg founded Emerald Coast Heart & AFib—the only clinic on Florida’s Gulf Coast solely focused on arrhythmia care. His clinic now serves as a beacon of advanced cardiac care, where patients receive personalized, high-tech treatment in a compassionate environment.

Beyond his medical career, Dr Ian Weisberg is a devoted father and fitness enthusiast, embodying the same passion and balance that have guided his journey in transforming heart rhythm care.
